Punch Up Knockout Mode Build

Loadout for last-glove-standing — survive the rim, confirm finishes, bank the big Hits bonus.

Knockout Mode Build

The Knockout build optimizes for last-glove-standing rounds instead of pure mid-lobby farming. You still need Hits from normal play, but every unlock decision asks: does this help me place or win when the field shrinks? Complete Beginner Build first, then migrate here. Pair with Knockout Strategy for decision trees and Competitive Build if you duel outside Knockout too.

Why Knockout needs a different loadout

Farm builds maximize punch volume in full 14-player piles. Knockout builds maximize:

  1. Survival when space collapses
  2. Confirm tools when two or three gloves remain
  3. Positioning tools over AFK Hit greed

A pure speed glove that farms well can struggle to finish a tanky rival in a 1v1 rim fight. A pure cannon that farms slowly may never reach ability unlocks before finals.

Unlock order for Knockout players

  1. Balanced / hybrid glove (see Gloves Tier List)
  2. Double Jump — non-negotiable
  3. Bomb Punch before Ground Pound for most Knockout climbers
  4. Optional Ground Pound once you consistently reach finals
  5. Cosmetics last

This order differs from pure farmers who sometimes prefer Ground Pound earlier for pile control — compare Abilities Tier List.

Mid-match plan

Early lobby (full server)

Play like a restrained farmer: mid-ring Hits, avoid rim camping, bank enough progress to afford your kit. Use Ring-Out Techniques only when free.

Mid lobby (half remaining)

Stop chasing every punch. Hold Double Jump. Soften with short trades. Identify who still has Bomb Punch available.

Final three / final two

  • Prefer mid-high vision over void traps
  • Force fair 1v1s when you hold both Double Jump and Bomb Punch
  • If you are third in a triangle, wait for others to whiff
  • Spend Bomb Punch only on a confirm — not a poke

Deep positioning: Arena Positioning. Habits to avoid: Common Mistakes.

Example Hit budget mindset

Exact shop prices can shift after the 2026-07-28 refresh. Mentally reserve Hits for:

  • Survival ability first
  • Confirm ability second
  • One glove upgrade that improves knockback without deleting your escape speed

If a purchase makes you feel stuck on the rim, refund your plan next session — Punch Up progression is persistent Hits, not permanent regret if you adapt.

When to switch back to Competitive Build

If lobbies rarely enter Knockout or you care more about duel rankings than placement bonuses, return to Competitive Build. If you are brand new, stay on Beginner Build until Double Jump is muscle memory.

Mid-phase transition

Before the field shrinks to three gloves, play like a cautious farmer: mid-ring Hits, minimal Bomb Punch waste, Double Jump conserved. The moment you hear or see Knockout rules engage, stop farming greed. Your Hits bank is already enough — placement pays more.

Transition checklist:

  1. Move to a mid-high vision spot from Arena Positioning
  2. Note who still has aggressive movement (likely speed gloves)
  3. Hold Bomb Punch until a true edge confirm appears
  4. If third in a triangle, wait for the other two to collide

Loadout spending order (Hits)

  1. Hybrid / slight-power glove unlock
  2. Double Jump
  3. Bomb Punch
  4. Optional Ground Pound only if you still die in mid-phase piles
  5. Funny faces last — cosmetics never win finals

If you already own a pure speed line from early farming, keep it as a mid-phase kite tool, then swap to the hybrid finisher when Knockout begins — provided the shop allows quick swaps in your lobby UI after the July 2026 update.

Mindset

Knockout builds punish impatience. One greedy chase can erase a full farm session of Hits. Review Common Mistakes weekly, especially mistake 7. Celebrate placement bonuses even when you do not take first — consistent top-three Knockout finishes fund the next glove tier faster than reckless all-ins.

A loadout that prioritizes Double Jump and Bomb Punch with a hybrid glove so you can survive and finish last-glove-standing rounds.

Should Knockout players buy Ground Pound first?

Usually no. Double Jump and Bomb Punch matter more in finals. Ground Pound is situational for mid-phase space resets.
